Trump doesn't read. He fell for Satanyahu's power point slides. There's no 5D chess here. Just a more roar on doing his thing

The author has, wisely, understood that the economic disruption we're seeing isn't an unintended consequence of the US hegemonic war against Iran. The disruption is the purpose of the attack, and its goal is to weaken all of the USA's rivals, which includes nations that formerly thought of themselves as America's allies.

Now consider the possibility that even that isn't the ultimate goal. Rather, consider that the end-point of this geopolitical move is the collapse of the Bretton Woods, US petrodollar financial system. Why would the US destroy its own financial system? Simply put, because under that system the US is $40 trillion in debt. This is an amount that's impossible to repay while still remaining the world's hegemon.

Default is inevitable. The US knows this. But rather than being a creditor seeking terms from the lenders, the US is going to create its own terms of default. To facilitate that it must first weaken everyone else in order to retain its relative hegemonic position once the default happens. In the chaos, which will likely see other countries defaulting, the US will unilaterally write off its debt to the world.

The debt will likely be written off selectively. Debt held by Americans and American corporations will receive the most beneficial terms. The debt held by America's most necessary allies will take a deeper haircut. Chief rivals like China and Russia will get nothing. At the same time as it defaults, the USA will introduce a new medium of exchange to replace the old US dollar, likely one with a digital base.

The main danger to the USA isn't its geopolitical rivals. The main danger is the black hole that the US has allowed to grow in its financial system. Like a celestial black hole's gravity, America's debt is inescapable. America itself will be sucked into that void. The way to escape this consequence is to destroy the system entirely. But not on terms that the world sets for a humbled America with cap in hand. Rather, the US will create global economic chaos first, and then dictate terms to the world.
